Hartlepool Wado-Kai Champs

Twenty-three clubs took part from round England and Scotland with all the top clubs from the North East in attendance. Top level clubs from Hull and Derby as well as the Yamakai fighting club from Scotland were there on a tremendously busy day.

With over 300 competitors this is a rapidly growing competition, not only in stature but also in quality.

Dokan entered a large squad of forty-eight students some of whom were competing for the first time. A competition wouldn’t feel right if there weren’t some "iffy" decisions and this was no exception. The pairs and teams kata were curiously judged and Eleisha was outrageously disqualified but, over all, the running of the comp was excellent and the day was very well organised.

Dokan finished the day by winning forty-one medals which was the highest tally. The next highest volume was Yamakai with thirty-one. To put this into perspective twelve of the twenty-three clubs entered won four or less medals with all their students.

Dokan's latest rising star Kaitlin Marshall finished the day with four medals. Well done Kaitlin.
