Jon Mottram Kata Seminar
England squad head kata coach Jon Mottram seminar.
On September the 22nd Dokan Bunnyhill once again hosted a closed shop seminar exclusively for our students with Englands number one kata coach Mr Jonathon Mottram.
Session one was a basic lesson focusing on strength and speed. Session two centred around the kata Enpi and the final session was an advanced lesson featuring Unsu.
Mr Mottram was accompanied by European silver medallist Aimee Sell. As our club is predominately female he thought it would be inspirational to our students to watch a world class lady. He was correct and the kids loved Aimee.
Both Jon and Aimee pointed out a few high potential kids to me and were very complimentary about the general standard of our students. Yet again this was a fun and interesting seminar and Jon is very popular with my students. Every kid wants him to return so it looks like this could be a twice yearly event.
Afterwards Jon, Aimee and a lot of our kids came back to Sensei Kev’s house for a barbecue. The weather was beautiful and the kids had a brilliant time. Dark nights are sliding in so we lit the burner as darkness fell and the gardens twinkling lights were switched on. We sat down and discussed the days events with an evening drink. What a fabulous way to round off a great day.
