CLUB ANNUAL SUMMARY 2016

CLUB SUMMARY 2016

2016 has been the usual busy year of external competitions, hotel stopovers, seminars, grading ceremonies and club parties. The club has settled into a steady rhythm with things falling into place slightly easier than before. This year we entered eight external competitions and I enjoyed every one of them. We had some fantastic results and yet again topped the medal tables in some majors.

We also hosted our first two open competitions which have been growing over the last couple of year now. As for the future we are building a new squad of very youthful students and in less than two year Dokan could have a far stronger competition squad than ever before. Such is the potential of our new recruits. But the best thing about the end of 2016 is the atmosphere within the clubs as the sessions buzz with the enthusiasm and energy only new blood can bring. Happy lessons with a friendly feel keeps everyone buoyant and keen. I have big plans and I am eager to see what 2017 will bring for Dokan karate club.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONS 2016 = 14

INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONS 2016 = 8

GOLD MEDALS WON THROUGHOUT THE 8 TOURNAMENTS = 128             SILVER =  105        BRONZE = 169

All added together makes over 400 medals won from eight large tournaments by Dokan Karate Squad, Which when you consider we entered two less tournaments in 2016 than 2015 and we won more gold and almost the same volume of medals means we are doing something right.
