Winter Grading 2012

On December the 9th Dokan held it's winter grading at Redhouse, and with about 70 kyu grades and 6 going for Dan grades it was a busy affair. As the bulk of the club missed the Autumn grading the students were well prepared for this one and the standard was fantastic.

Of particular interest was the volume of new starters grading (over 30) and the talent amongst this lot is exceptional. But only time will tell if they have the determination and more importantly the parental support needed to achieve Dokan competition squad status.

There was two sets of grading trophies, four for below 5th kyu and four for 5th kyu and above.

Trophy Winners

Low Grades

  • 1st Yasmine Rathore
  • 2nd Ruby Robertson
  • 3rd Jamie Leigh Riechard
  • 4th Neve Geary

High Grades

  • 1st Tammy Proctor
  • 2nd Milly Pomfret
  • 3rd Holly Stoner
  • 4th Sadie Stoner

There was also a trophy for the finest Dan grade which after much discussion was awarded to Chloe Million aged 9.

Two new faces appeared on this grading panel, Rob Berry and Rebecca Teasdale both of whom have trained at numerous different clubs and associations. Both commented on the fantastic standard of student within our club and were suitably impressed (we never tire of such flattery)

The overall student of the year was won by Megan Purvis, and the students choice which is voted for by secret ballot box was won by Lola Cassidy.
