36th Cumbrian Open Competition

On the 17th of June a Dokan squad entered Chojinkai Karate's 36th Cumbrian Open.

Dokan entered as a last minute decision because there were categories open to a few low grades. It proved to be a good decision with newcomers picking up a multitude of medals, including a clean sweep in the 6 to 8 year old under 6th kyu kata section with Georgia Stephenson and Neve Geary taking bronze and rising stars Eve Palmer and Lola Cassidy winning silver and gold respectively.

Other low grades that made a mark were Grace Jackson (bronze), Alex Steadman (silver) and Tammy proctor (gold).

The club finished the day winning nine gold, ten silver and fourteen bronze in what was a well organised and smoothly run tournament.

A special mention must be made on behalf of the fabulous Stoner sisters who for the second tournament running both won individual gold in kata. Holly also put in a spirited performance to gain silver in kumite and both girls won bronze in team kata events.
