AMA INTERNATIONAL EVENT SHEFFIELD

Our third tournament of 2020, The Ama International at Sheffield is a two day event with one day totally committed to kata and the following all kumite.

With a depleted squad due mainly to the volume of competitions I scheduled in for 2020. If I arrange too many tournaments people pick and choose and we end up with smaller squad entries but also here not many want to or have the time to give up a full weekend. We finished day one as overall runners up on the kata side which was a nice surprise, day two a tough day of fighting with new rules to accustom too but at the end of the day it is all still karate and Dokan do karate well.

I must point out that the day was far more relaxed because of splitting the competition which does lead to a more enjoyable experience.

Fabulous tournament and some outstanding personal performances from our squad of 16 girls. Very pleased, very proud of my girls. Especially the older girls which is where all the medals were won. Our veteran 14 to 17 year old girls were brilliant. PS another really friendly competition ran with etiquette and tough yet without bitterness. Head ref Christine Pullan done a superb job too. Total great weekend. Medal tally complimented by team events 10 gold, 6 silver and 8 bronze.
