JONATHAN MOTTRAM SEMINAR 2016
It is two years since Jonathan visited our dojos in Sunderland and during that time he had a short while out of karate. The rest must have renewed his vigour as this was by far the best seminar of his I have attended.
We started with a low grade section aimed at our up and coming squad 7th kyu and below and had a good turn in of 21 students a lot of them are only 7 years old but we have some true prospects in there if they stick with karate. John is rather good with young children and they responded well to the training.
We followed this with a mid-grade session and two high grade sessions in total we had around 45 Dokan students turn up for a very physical and educational day. Personally I watch a lot of seminars and I believe there is no one teaching kata better in Europe at the moment than John. At 35 he has more experience than the young current kata superstars he yet still retains his speed and power.
This was kata teaching at its very best and I only hope the students realised how good it was.
Afterwards John came to our fireworks party and mingled with the kids and parents alike talking to all. It is small things like this that made the weekend a special one.
