TYNE TEES WINTER OPEN 19.11.2017

Probably our last competition of 2017 and also Dokan's largest squad with just over 90 Dokan students in attendance.

I began running a competition solely for my club as soon as I set up Dokan. The idea was to introduce our students to competitive karate and hopefully get their parents on side. It has gone from a tiny comp with one area and just under 20 students to a reasonably large and very professionally ran tournament. With our own Dokan refs Brian, Derek,  Peter and our judges Wes, Steve and Ron supported by long term friends Harold, Ciaron, Graham, Jeff and the new ref Keith. We also have competent trained table staff, a hired medic and now run 4 areas with electric monitors. We also have our own custom made medals which are bigger and better than any we have received elsewhere this year.

The event relies on voluntary help from students and parents alike and is a key part to our club calendar. I hope this one encouraged some parents to support their children and halp them enter external competitions with Dokans fantastic junior squad.

The day was a great success with everyone going home happy.
