USA OPEN DUDLEY 21.5.2017

When the EKF decided to remove all under 12 year old sections from the English Nationals we were left with a large gap to fill. There seemed to be very little about in May and then I remembered the invite from Paul Campbell to attend his summer comp. A text was sent and withing 2 days we had a healthy squad of 26 students signed up for the weekend.

A premier inn was booked and I looked for something to do round the doors for when we arrived. Eventually I opted to stop en route at Drayton Manor theme park, to give the kids something extra to look forward too. There was a tragic accident the week prior to us going so we detoured to Alton tours for the wettest day of the year. But the torrential rain dampened no ones spirits and all had a fabulous fun filled day.

The competition itself was busier than I expected and better too, with a lot of Southern English clubs entered we never normally come into contact with. Also it felt like a nice step back to a few year ago when we entered smaller tournaments. These can be intimate and more fun and this proved the case here. Our squad were on good form and I was very pleased with the club gaining first place on the medal table yet again this year.

All in all a great weekend with the Dokan gang.
